GIS Project Manager Oakland CA - Cambridge Systematics

GIS Specialist Oakland – Cambridge Systematics

Specialist – We are seeking a GIS Specialist for our office in Oakland, California. The individual will work with a growing team of GIS and travel demand modelers to provide GIS support for a variety of projects on GIS-T, travel demand forecasting, and transportation planning. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, mapping and geospatial analysis; network editing and quality assurance; database management; and GIS programming. The ideal candidate must be highly organized and be able to multitask and work with deadlines. Must also be able to work independently or with others and communicate in a professional and timely manner. Good analytical and problem-solving skills are highly desirable.

Qualifications: Master’s degree in geography, planning, civil engineering, or any related field, or Bachelor’s degree with one or more years of relevant experience. The individual must have working knowledge of ArcGIS 9.X and 10.x (both desktop and web) products. He/she should also know how to create and maintain databases using Microsoft Access, MS SQL, or Oracle, and to automate GIS tasks by programming using at least one of the following languages: Python, Visual Basic, .Net, C++, Java, JavaScript, or GIS DK. Experience or knowledge working with travel demand modeling data will be a plus.

Project Manager - We are seeking a GIS Project Manager in our Oakland, CA office to provide GIS support for a variety of projects involving GIS-T, travel demand forecasting, transportation planning, freight planning, and transportation operations. This individual will actively participate in identifying and developing new GIS related business leads, especially in the western United States. Other duties will be mapping and geospatial analysis, the development of geospatial databases, the development of geospatial data models to support transportation, including linear referencing systems and connected networks to support transportation modeling and pathbuilding. In addition, they will develop and implement strategies for enterprise GIS in transportation agencies, including integration of legacy databases and geodatabase standards, and configure and install enterprise GIS infrastructure, including desktop and server-based hardware and GIS software. Individual will also provide GIS technical advice and mentoring to casual GIS users in Oakland and other CS offices.

Qualifications: Master’s degree in geography, planning, civil engineering, or related field, or a Bachelor’s degree with two or more years additional work experience; five years additional work experience in GIS; training and proficiency in the use of ESRI GIS software, including ArcGIS 9.X, Arc GIS Server, and Arc SDE; GIS programming skills in one or more of the following languages: Python, JavaScript, C++, and possess strong geospatial analysis and data manipulation skills. In addition, this individual must have strong relational database management skills, such as SQL, Access, and /or Oracle; TRANSCAD experience and must have strong verbal and written communication skills, and have demonstrated ability to manage projects and produce deliverables on-time and within budget.
