Bakersfield GIS User Group Meeting – Report 10/13/11

As usual, the Bakersfield GIS User Group meeting was well attended and informative with presentations from Cindy Meeker of Paramount Farming and ESRI.  Cindy discussed how she is using data driven pages and ArcPy for mapping to create custom map books and automate heavy workloads, thus freeing her for more productive and interesting work.  Evan and Linda from ESRI attended the meeting and together with Tanya (Boston) and Idrian (Charlotte) on the phone, spent some time running us through the usefulness and possibilities of ArcGIS.com tools and possibilities.  There is now a new CentralCal URISA group on ArcGIS.com.  Try out the site and add your maps to our group.

I am currently the President of Central Cal URISA. My employer is Paramount Citrus where I am the Director of GIS.  I was previously the GIS Coordinator for Kern County for 9 years and the GIS Administrator for the Utah Transit Authority for 7 years.  I am a big believer in collaboration within the GIS community and  I have served on the Central Cal URISA board for the past 5 years.   I also sit on the CGIA board.
